Best time to visit Ivindo National Park

The best time to visit Ivindo National Park is the dry season, which extends from June to September and from December to February. During this period, the weather is generally mild, with less chance of precipitation. The dry season also makes the park's trails and rivers easier to navigate because water levels are lower.

However, it is important to note that Ivindo National Park can be visited all year round. Each season offers its own unique experiences and opportunities. The rainy season, from October to December and March to June  brings lush greenery and vibrant wildlife, but also heavier rains and more difficult trekking conditions. Organization of the Trek in Ivindo Park

The trek starts in Makokou. You will be taken care of by an experienced team, eco-guards, guides, cooks, porters. You will be supervised by a team of at least 5 people, made up of local guides, Bakota, Fang, Bakwélé who will lead you through the primary forest.  They will help you discover the riches and traditional uses forest resources.  They will make you track animals in the forest. Your hike will be done on foot and by canoe with accommodation in a camp or bivouac in the heart of the forest.

To reach Makokou, we offer direct access from Libreville to Makokou by individual or shared 4x4, or take the Transgabonais to Booué where you will be picked up to be transferred to Makokou.

Your equipment for the trek

On a material level, you must have good equipment for hiking in the forest, walking shoes with good soles, several pairs of socks (especially in the rainy season because it it is possible to get wet), long, light pants (which dry quickly), colored long-sleeved shirts, the outfit must be dark in color for example green, gray, beige, brown. A poncho or light raincoat (especially in rainy seasons), a swimsuit for swimming in rivers, and for the night a light sleeping bag, without forgetting mosquito repellents.

For your comfort and safety, you must take out repatriation insurance before your departure.
